PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To contribute to the development of the procurement process in line with World Class Best Practices, ensuring optimized profitability by providing a range of commodities that is the most wanted to the Africa consumer market
Design and manage the purchasing strategy to enhance quality delivery and cost targets
Effectively communicate with and assist the supply chain
Resolution and corrective action with regards to technical product make-up
Assessment of Supplier development needs and implementation of effective solutions
Evaluate supplier performance
Identify cost reduction alternatives and suggest improvements
Negotiation and administration of procurement contracts
Driving efficiency of budgeting, targeting and reporting
Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
Analyse market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future product availability.
Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing products effectively
Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs.
Buying and co-ordination of core volume programs
Relevant Degree or Diploma in Purchasing Management or Clothing
5 years Management experience
Extensive retail knowledge and experience
In addition to Buying trips, willingness to travel extensively to and within Africa
Competencies required: Financial management skills; PC literacy; Presentation skills; Negotiation and Influencing skills; Facilitation skills, In-depth understanding of the buying process; Understanding of the critical path of planning; Supply chain processes; Market understanding; Product knowledge, Leadership skills, Decision making abilities and Sound business acumen
