To attend to all client deposits, withdrawal and transfer requests, by ensuring that funds taken in and paid away are correct by balancing at the end of the day, in the interest of excellent client service.





Teller duties

  • Processes deposits, withdrawals and transfers accurately and efficiently.
  • Checks all deposit and withdrawal slips are correctly completed and authorised in terms of the Bank’s policies and procedures
  • Counts physical cash received from and paid to customers
  • Identifies counterfeit/stained banknotes
  • Identifies cheques that are irregular/unacceptable
  • Checks the other teller’s transaction journal to ensure transactions were processed correctly.
  • Processes international payments when required.
  • Annotates cash breakdowns on all deposit and withdrawal slips for all cash transactions
  • Stamps, dates and initials all processed transaction slips
  • Requests customer to sign withdrawal slip for cash received
  • Ensures that Source of funds is annotated on the transaction slip and captures these details for all the required transactions
  • Maintains a zero rate of teller differences in respect of surpluses and shortages
  • Reports any suspicious or high risk transactions in respect to Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA)
  • Manages the process of handing cash and cheque deposits to the G4S Guard
  • Balances cash daily using specified templates and hands bulk cash over to treasury
  • Prepares deposit slip for cheques to be deposited at ABSA
  • Ensures that all policies and procedures of the bank are adhered to at all times








Branch Petty Cash          

  • Ensures petty cash requisition vouchers are authorised by supervisor
  • Maintains all petty cash transactions on an excel spreadsheet
  • Balances petty cash and submits to finance on a monthly basis
  • Prepares cheque in respect to replenish petty cash when necessary



Administration of back-office functions


  • Assists the Branch Administration Manager with other administration duties as and when required



Customer Service

  • Provides an efficient and excellent service to all clients
  • Participates in cross sales of the banks products at all given opportunities


Relief Duties

  • Serves as a relief Enquiries Clerk as and when required.




Preferred Qualifications

  • Matric



Preferred Experience

  • A minimum of 1-2 years general banking experience or equivalent working experience would be required
