Administrator: ICT Infrastructure

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) exists in terms of the Skills Development Act and is a categorised as a Schedule 3A public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA). Its mandate includes:

• Developing and implementing a sector skills plan
• Promoting learning programmes
• Registering learning programme agreements
• Serving as an Education and Training Quality Authority
• Collecting and disbursing skills development levies
• Liaising with the National Skills Authority
• Reporting to the Director-General of the Department of Higher Education and Training on its activities

The CETA would like to make the following appointments on a fixed-term contract up to 31 March 2020, renewable at its discretion:

Administrator: Infrastructure
Reporting to the Manager: ICT
Based at Head Office in Gauteng
All-inclusive salary package negotiable

Job Profile:
To provide first level support to end-users in relation to information and communication incidents and ensure the provision of expert assistance, guidance and informal training regarding all problems hardware. The role is responsible to assist with the maintenance of the ICT infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements for the Position

• Grade 12 Certificate and a post-school qualification in related field
• At least a year’s experience, including internship, in a field related to the above
• Demonstrable knowledge of SETA core business will count in the applicant’s favour
• Training and/or experience in the construction industry will be an added advantage
• Excellent writing, verbal communication, analytical, presentation and computer skills

Duties and Responsibilities

• Timely administered helpdesk and supported all CETA users
• Maintain the helpdesk in a timely and efficient manner
• Respond to callers appropriately and where necessary escalate queries to other team members
• Maintain a dedicated line to receive all service calls within CETA
• Accurately record all details on the computer (call log system) and supply a call number
• Assist with providing effective and timely desktop hardware and printer support
• Provide a first line telephonic support to CETA users
• Determine the urgency of the call and advise the relevant Specialist on calls to attended to within a specified period
• Escalate calls to the relevant service providers or IT team
• Monitor the information management system and report on any fault connections on the network
• Conduct basic fault finding
• Report to Telkom or other service provider faults
• Record and close all calls received electronically, in person or by telephone accurately and keep maintain operational documentation
• Provide informal training of users and act as training back-up
• Investigate and resolve higher-level faults that occur or escalate these to the appropriate area
• Work with procurement staff for the purchase of hardware
• Assist in the maintenance of the IT equipment, asset management and other record keeping activities
• Work with procurement staff for the purchase of hardware
• Adhere to all network and security guidelines
• Produce management information on the total number of calls received per month
• Follow up on completed service calls and determine user satisfaction
• Assist as necessary in coordinating any project
• Maintain the system and the call log system
• Establish a pattern recognition of calls and advice relevant IT staff member accordingly
• Support the optimization of the Unit
• Provide day to day administrative tasks related to the achievement of work plans in the Unit
• Collate and file indicators for POP in the Unit
• Track and record survey returns
• Populate reports and submitted in time, in the right format, and accurate
