BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING MANAGER
SALARY: R356,289 – R419, 679 p.a + BENEFITS
A new role has arisen within the organisation for a Business Development and Marketing Manager. You will help to devise, develop and deliver a comprehensive strategic and tactical plan for business development, income generation and awareness-raising for Northlink College. You will also help to raise the organisation’s media profile in South Africa by defining and managing a new communication strategy.
A relevant degree in business and /or marketing-related subject.
At least 8 years in a corporate marketing or similar environment with branding experience.
Experience in developing, writing and delivering external communication programmes (also in international context).
Experience in developing high-quality written content for different communication channels including emails, adverts, presentations, etc.
Experience in developing and implementing partnership development activities.
Extensive use of project management approaches including setting project plans, budgets and schedules.
Experience in fundraising would be preferable.
First class communication to operate professionally and effectively at all levels.
Excellent rapport building, networking and relationship management experience.
Drive, passion and ability to help shape the organisation’s marketing and communication department.
Ability to provide strategic leadership and management.
Ability to review and analyse budgets and financial reports to see implications in the implementation and management of projects.
Flexibility to undertake travel if required.
Clear understanding and knowledge of the development issues in South Africa.
Ability to work well in an inter-cultural environment.
An understanding or experience of the fields of international development, politics and education.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Development and deliver the strategy for Northlink College’s new business development, marketing and communication, in close collaboration with the Deputy CEO’s of Corporate Management and Innovation & Development.
Be responsible for oversite of communicating this strategy to all key stakeholders.
Build the turnover of organisation.
Grow the College’s corporate network to generate significate income, create partnerships for industry exposure for lecturers.
Develop advertising-related opportunities and manage effective partnerships.
Innovate and offer new ideas and approaches for developing the Northlink College brand and building relationships.
Ensure that the marketing strategy is line with the College’s strategic plan.
Ensure that the department is managed cost effectively and to a high quality.
Motivate and support the marketing team.
Initiate and manage existing and potential strategic corporate and media relationships.
Work effectively across the organisation to identify current funding requirements for activities and specific projects from foundations, trusts and government.
Take responsibility for contributing to an annual fundraising target.
Develop innovative approaches and proposals for partnership.
Play an active role in implementing a strategic media engagement plan.
Engage with mainstream media, academic institutions, government companies and individuals to develop collaborative partnerships.
Develop stakeholder engagement plan, corporate, industry bodies, alumni and high profile individuals to support the organisation.
Carry out presentations and pitches to potential partners.
Manage the planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting of the department strategy and achievements.
Ensure all activity is recorded accurately in the quarterly performance reports.
Ensure all budgeting and follow up of projects costs and negotiation of contracts is completed.
