Coordinator: Bursaries

The Local Government SETA (LGSETA) was established in terms of the Skills Development Act No. 97 of 1998 and is responsible for skills development within the Local Government sector. The SETAs were relicensed by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, extending their licence period to 31 March 2020. Accordingly, employment with the LGSETA is determined for a fixed period and aligned to the SETA licence term.

Position Location: Bedfordview, Gauteng.

Responsible for the implementation of bursary schemes within frameworks and policies as set out by relevant legislation. Ensure the enforcement of requirements for the granting of bursaries and track progress of learners against established contracts in order to meet the skills development goals of the LGSETA.

Key Performance Areas:
Ensure effective and efficient bursar registration and related processes • Corroborate information received from bursars against registration compliance standards to ensure all requirements have been adhered to • Provide accurate weekly reports to Manager: Learning Programmes related to current status of all bursary schemes currently in progress • Quality assure all administrative tasks undertaken by the Bursaries Administrator • Work with learning programmes administrators’ to generate bursary payment requests as per service level agreements • Manage claims submissions to track expenditure • Assist LGSETA stakeholders with bursary related queries • Attend forums scheduled by DHET and COGTA related to bursary schemes to keep abreast of sector developments • Provide DHET and COGTA with accurate and regular reports related to progress and implementation status of current bursary schemes as per designated timeframes • Maintain high level data integrity • Monitor bursar performance against the set requirements.

Job Requirements: 

Job Requirements: Matric/Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification (NQF Level 4) • National Certificate in Administration or equivalent (NQF Level 5) • 3 year B-degree or equivalent in HR or Quality Assurance (NQF Level 7) would be an added advantage • Minimum of 2 years administration experience in a SETA environment, preferably in an Education and Training Quality Assurance environment.
