Finance Clerk

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Responsibilities and duties are as follows:
• Debtors and Creditors experience/knowledge - advantageous
• Sound Experience in Sage Pastel Accounting – Pastel Xpress V18 (non-negotiable)
• Experience in cashbooks - uploading bank statements to cashbook and maintaining & reconciling the cashbook to the bank statements daily
• Capturing journals
• Bank reconciliations, following up and clearing of reconciling items
• Liaise with suppliers and following up regarding payments
• Processing of daily and monthly payments according to a payment schedule
• Issuing, processing and reconciling of petty cash
• General ledger recons
• Management Accounts reporting
• General Ledger and inter-company loan reconciliations, journal entries.
• General Ledger analysis for tax.
• Timeous and accurate monthly reporting
• Reviewing, monitoring and managing budgets
• Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
• Produce and provide monthly management reports
• To ensure that all sales/invoicing is captured on a monthly basis before month end cut off
• To follow up on outstanding payments to be collected within thirty (30) days of invoicing
• To ensure that all inventory, etc are reconciled on a monthly basis before month end cut off and reports produced
• To ensure that the fixed asset register is maintained and updated or when necessary with related items (sales or purchase etc) before month end cut off and reports produced
• To email/post customer statements monthly to clients
• Ensure timely preparation of BIDS & RFQ’s as requested
• Ensure timely preparation of all financial documents required for accreditation and business purposes

QUALIFICATIONS
Educational and skills required are as follows:
• 5 years solid finance experience in the financial sector
• Proficient user of Pastel Xpress V18
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
• A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
• Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
• Hands-on experience with MS Office (particularly MS Word, MS Excel)
• Solid time-management abilities with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Degree in Finance, Accounting or similar
