We require a degreed Mechanical Engineer with minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience to take responsibility for R&D and to provide engineering support to the sales, service and technical departments.
The ideal incumbent will have the ability to construct engineering calculations from first principles as well as making use of advanced technology and data acquisition to perform product development and support. Experience performing finite element analysis – most important aspect is the structural analysis – and exposure to instrumenting and testing machinery and/or/ performing dynamic analyses on machinery and/or scientific programming in Python/Matlab/Scilab/Octave will be a definite advantage.
Reports to: General Manager: Engineering.
Primary purpose: Responsible for research and development as well as engineering support to sales, service and technical departments.
Your Job description includes, but is not limited to:
Responsible to develop internal mechanical design works standard and continuously improve standard mechanical engineering calculation procedures to assist in product design.
Responsible to develop test certification forms for all products.
Sign-off test certificates.
Responsible to perform FEA and MBD calculations on components and full assemblies when needed.
Responsible for structural sizing of components and machines to assist with pre-sales costing calculations.
Responsible for engineering support to sales, service and design office.
Receive and manage technical support request forms.
Responsible for research and design by working with the design and process engineers on the development of new products.
Identify design improvements on existing products.
Responsible to measure the dynamic behaviour of equipment, compare it to the predicted behaviour as well as using the data for the design of new equipment.
Responsible for engineering investigations and feedback reports when required.
Perform site visits when required.

B.Eng Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years’ engineering experience after obtaining engineering degree.

Exposure or experience to the following will be an advantage:
Instrumenting and testing machinery
Performing dynamic analyses on machinery
Scientific programming in Python/Matlab/Scilab/Octave
FEA and MBD modelling experience
Proficiency in MS Excel
Minimum travelling required.
English, Afrikaans and an African language will be an advantage
