Academic Module Guide Moderator

• Module Guide Moderator – Assessment Trends in Mathematics Education
PURPOSE OF THIS MODULE:
This module is based on assessment and assessment instruments to be used in Mathematics teaching and learning that are contemporary and focussed on learner-centredness. The purpose is therefore to illuminate assessment practices of the process-driven model that emphasises assessment strategies such as inculcate process of enquiry, problem-solving, logical thinking, higher-order thinking, creativity and abstraction such as discovery learning, assignments, projects, contextual learning (real-life assessment such as games and patterns relevant in ethno-mathematics). The module further serves the purpose to encourage digitisation as an important technique of assessment.
CORE PURPOSE:
To moderate content for a Module Guide based on a specific set of outcomes as per the requirements provided by MANCOSA.
CORE FUNCTIONS:
• To moderate content for a Module Guide as per requirements provided
• Moderate the requisite number of assessments with the relevant rubrics as per guidelines provided by the Assessments Department
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATION(S):
A relevant Doctorate level qualification (a relevant Masters level qualification will also be considered based on level of experience with Module Guide Moderation)
EXPERIENCE:
• 3-5 years Academic experience
• Module Guide Moderation experience
RELATED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
• Have a working knowledge of the South African Higher Education Regulatory Framework
• Must be able to work within pre-determined time frames and deadlines
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Must be able to demonstrate professionalism in moderating content within the module guide
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Internet and Email)
• Possess a high level of ethics
• Knowledge of Blooms Taxonomy verbs and SAQA Level descriptors
