La Eventa, a brand new boutique Hospitality & Culinary Management School invites applications for the position of Chef/ Culinary Lecturer. The successful candidate should demonstrate the drive and vision to maintain an innovative, cutting-edge learning environment. In addition, the candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching at undergraduate level.
The Chef will be instrumental in providing a consistent and positive learning experience as well as ensure the delivery of the set course curriculum in accordance with La Eventa’s Policies, philosophy, Legislation & Accrediting bodies.
Duties & Responsibilities (Key Result areas):
Facilitation & Assessment, Coordinating, Mentoring and assisting Students with respect to theory and practical studies and cultivation of the individual creative spirit
Managing Student discipline and formal correspondences relating to student progress.
Ensuring implementation and adherence to policies and processes as set out by legislation, accreditation bodies and La Eventa
Managing food and kitchen Items, equipment ordering, purchasing, receiving, cost and stock control as set out in La Eventa’s guidelines.
Participation in promotional and culinary event planning activities for La Eventa
Assuring that the effective orientation, training, supervision, management, coaching, education and grading of students in all aspects of a Professional Kitchen Operation are met in a “real time” live environment.
Inspecting students each day to ensure that they are in class on time, are properly groomed, their uniforms are worn correctly and are impeccably clean at all times.
Maintains a clean and safe kitchen environment at all times.
Checks the maintenance of all equipment in the kitchen and reports deficiencies.
Assists in planning, implementing of procedures and execution of special La Eventa events as they arise.
The ideal candidate should be self–motivated and able to work independently with a passion for excellence, attention to detail and organization. They must have excellent communication skills and able to thrive in a team environment with an inherent ability to quickly adjust to new challenges
• Relevant hospitality & Culinary Qualification
• Qualified Assessor and/ or Moderator (ETDPSETA)
• minimum of 2 years City & Guilds culinary art’s syllabus lecturing experience as well as extensive knowledge of food and beverage service. The ideal candidate should also be proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point and Social Media.
