Small and Micro Enterprises (SME) Specialist X 2

The Wholesale and Retail Sector for Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) seeks to employ a Small and Micro Enterprises Support (SME) Specialist, who will report directly to the Executive Manager: SME and be based at the Head Office in Centurion.

Key Performance Areas will include but not limited to the following;
 Oversee the management of projects within the Unit
 Quality check all information, reports, grant claim documentation before sign-off by the Executive Manager
 Support the Executive Manager in ensuring that the Unit runs smoothly, operationally and administratively
 Schedule and conduct project site visits in terms of the learner verification and monitoring
 Monitor all contracts to ensure that they are extended before expiry
 Assist with the development of business cases and project proposals for submission at Internal Projects Evaluation Committee (IPEC) and Projects Board Committee (PBC)
 Prepare and submit project related reports, ensuring accuracy in the narrative and statistical information at all times;
 Quality check information required by internal and external auditors before submission;
 Develop and operationalize relevant project templates, processes and systems in line with Quality Management System of the SETA;
 Capacitate and support regional staff on project deliverables
 Perform other functions as required by the Unit
 Attend events, seminars, SME forums and conferences on request
 Represents the Unit at external and internal meetings and provide continuous feedback
 Serve as a principal liaison between the regions, stakeholders and the Unit and address queries and concerns
 Maintain stakeholder partnerships and relations, and collaborate with stakeholders to address queries and provide resolutions
 Build and maintain the stakeholder database
 Represent the SETA at various SMME forums
 Plan, maintain and effectively manage the Unit budget and provide monthly forecasts (both admin budget and projects budget)
 Ensure compliance to policies, procedures and processes
 Implement and maintain the relevant management systems and optimize controls and processes
 Update and maintain the internal systems
 Provide management, guidance and support to the Unit and ensure compliance and a performance driven focus
 Continuously guide and support the team whilst building and maintaining an effective team within the Unit
 Implement the best performance management practices, coaching and mentorship methods
 Ensure that the Unit maintains a proper and updated filing system of project information
 Lead the Unit to achieve set goals and targets within set timeframes
 Create and maintain a culture of performance and efficiency

Job Requirements: 

Minimum Qualification and Experience:
 Matric / Grade 12 National certificate;
 Bachelor’s degree in Management Sciences / Commerce / Enterprise Development or equivalent
 3 years’ experience in SME or Enterprise Development
 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or team leader position
 Proven experience in project management, monitoring and reporting
 In-depth knowledge of South African SMME landscape
 Knowledge and practical understanding of skills development and the applicable legislation to the SETA
 Ability to conduct training and workshops/seminars
 Knowledge and understanding of the wholesale and retail sector
 Experience in a SETA environment will be an advantage
 Computer literacy (MS Excel, Ms Word, MS Project)
 Own transport and a valid driver’s licence

 Ability to manage own and team performance
 Conflict management
 Budget preparation and management
 Familiarity with major business processes
 Willingness and ability to travel nationally in support of the SME project implementation
