HR Specialist


  • Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
  • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
  • Manage SHERQC compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
  • Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHERQC status

  • Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
  • Benchmark Employment practices against the external market, as requested
  • Research alternative HR Systems and processes and make recommendations


Policies and Procedures:

  • Implement HR Policies, Procedures, Standards, Protocols, Work Instructions, Codes of Practice, etc.

HR Legislation:

  • Comply with the relevant HR Legislation (Labour Relations Act, EE Act, Skills Development Act, etc.)
  • Provide information and advice regarding legislation that may impact employment issues


  • Implement the Recruitment, Selection, and Assessment Protocol
  • Oversee the Recruitment and Selection process at the BU
  • Compile letter of appointment/regret letters
  • Compile employment contracts
  • Conduct interviews when required
  • Measure Recruitment efficiency

Talent & Performance Management:

  • Provide BU with a Performance Management process supporting Organisational Objectives
  • Implement the Performance Management System for all BU employees
  • Implement Talent Management processes and talent pools
  • Succession planning and career paths

Onboarding process:

  • Implement and maintain onboarding/orientation processes

Employee Benefits:

  • Administer data, systems, payments and provide advice related to benefits:
  • Group Life Cover, Group Accident Cover, Motor Vehicle Schemes, Relocation, Medical Aid, UIF, Retirement Funds, Disability Claims, Long Service Awards, Severance Packages, Advise on Package Structuring (Package Modelling, Motor Vehicle & Housing)


  • Comply with the Legislation (Labour Relations Act, EE Act, Skills Development Act, etc.)
  • Provide information and advice regarding legislation that may impact employment issues

Medical Aid Schemes & Retirement Funds:

  • Liaise and administrate processes between the company and Service Providers
  • Handle and resolve all queries


  • Submit and maintain records of Employees Payroll (Up to D level) and handle all queries
  • Ensure that payroll processes are accurately followed and that deadlines are adhered to
  • Reconsolidate the billing reports for accuracy of information submitted and revert discrepancies back to Service Providers
  • Collate and process TCS employees input onto the SAP system
  • Update monthly payroll inputs onto spreadsheet and maintain for audit purposes
  • Run Simulation payroll, check data integrity of payslips for correctness and approval
  • between Finance department to ensure salary payment, third party transfers and General Ledger Interface files
  • Compile monthly Vendor reports and send to Service Providers
  • Handle Payroll and Benefits queries to resolve problems/discrepancies and to provide feedback accordingly
  • Implement Substantive Agreements
  • Monitor and report statutory leave compliance
  • Comply with all statutory requirements pertaining to the payroll


  • Compile salary surveys & recommendations on request

Organisational Structures:

  • Maintain and Update Master data for TCS personnel on SAP
  • Liaise with the Finance Department regarding cost centres changes
  • Maintain and update Organisational Structures on SAP
  • Maintain and Update monthly organograms for approval
  • Act as TCS HR Super User on SAP

Job Evaluation:

  • Coordinate the grading of new Job Profiles and regrading of existing Job Profiles as required
  • Update and maintain Job Profiles biannually

Exit process:

  • Prepare and conduct exit interviews and report findings
  • Administer the employee exit processes
  • Liaise with Service Providers

HR Administration:

  • Ensure completion of all necessary documentation on sign-on of new employees (Entry Medical, Medical Aid, Pension Fund, etc.)
  • Ensure completion of all necessary documentation on termination of employees' service (Exit Medical, Record of Service, UIF Card, etc.)

Long Service Awards:

  • Monthly monitoring of long service awards due to TCS employees (up to E-band)
  • Ensure timeous hand-out of awards to TCS employees


  • Compile HR Reports as requested
  • Compile, collate and report relevant HR statistics for the BU
  • Compile Corporate HR statistics (Monthly)

Employee Wellness:

  • Communicate on a monthly basis a Wellness concept to TCS Staff;
  • Manage regular wellness events
  • Oversee the EAP processes at the BU
  • Liaise with the appointed EAP service provider on behalf of the BU


  • Develop and implement Communication initiatives related to Organisational Culture and Climate (e.g. Sports days, Awards Ceremonies and other functions)
  • Manage communications projects
  • Compile Monthly Newsletter for TCS
  • Compile all TCS Communications e.g. Healthy Living, Birthdays;
  • Initiate and implement culture building events
  • Liaise with corporate office on Public Relations / Communication events affecting TCS;
  • Ensure TCS aligns to Samancor Chrome brand;
  • Develop Communication material (e.g. Videos, Presentations, Visitor Booklets);
  • Act as custodian of Communication drive in terms of any Organisational change;
  • Maintain and update a database of all TCS photos (Quarterly)
  • Align TCS communications to Corporate policy

Climate and Culture:

  • Initiate and implement Culture building events for TCS, and ensure TCS aligns to corporate culture building events;

  • Ensure that Organisational Values are embedded
  • Ensure regular communication/initiatives regarding Organisational Values

Job requirements: 

Minimum qualification:

  • Relevant Degree or National Diploma
  • Advantageous: SAP knowledge & MS Office

Expereience: Minimum 4 years' relevant experience
