At Cape Union Mart, the Learning and Development (L&D) team is responsible for creating a culture of continuous learning and growth through holistic learning and development programmes and initiatives that enable us to constantly evolve and develop. To ensure that we meet our objectives, two new and exciting opportunities have become available for resilient, efficient and influential Learning & Development Business Partners.

 

The successful candidates will be responsible for driving a culture of Learning and Development across their area of responsibility namely: Head Office or Stores and support the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning initiatives in this business unit to improve individual, team and organisational performance.

 

The ideal candidates will be enthusiastic and passionate about Retail and Adult Learning. They will have the ability to align with the company vision, be self-motivated and be actively involved in overseeing the end-to-end learning process in their area of responsibility. In addition, the successful candidates should have the high energy levels required for this fast-paced, exciting and dynamic retail environment.

 

The Learning & Development team form a part of the broader Human Capital Department for the Cape Union Mart Group.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Work in close partnership with stakeholders to manage learning needs and requests across the business, in full support of the functional and operational people plans
  • Implement learning action plans to achieve agreed learning objectives in line with Company principles, values and training strategy
  • Design, develop, and delivering training material using a variety of training methods and channels
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders
  • Drive a culture of continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Design blended learning solutions
  • Apply adult learning theories to ensure employees get the best out of their development
  • Design a range of learning interventions including functional, compliance and leadership programmes
  • Facilitate learning interventions
  • Establish and maintain a database representing every aspect of training delivered, including individual sign offs and understanding of material delivered
  • Coordinate interventions with external and internal learning providers
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the learning initiatives through feedback from learners and line leaders
  • Act as a custodian of the company culture, values and principles in line with the company brand
  • Execute and deliver on adhoc Departmental projects, interventions and duties

Job requirements: 

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications Required

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • HR related Tertiary qualification/ Skills Development workplace qualification
  • A Digital Learning or e-Learning Course Certificate would be an advantage
  • An understanding of Adult Learning Principles
  • Working experience in the Retail sector
  • 3-5 years of experience in Learning and Development sector
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Microsoft Office proficiency is a key requirement
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an intermediate to advance working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to develop online training modules (advantageous)
  • Previous experience in managing an organisation LMS (advantageous)
  • Ability to deliver briefs and instructions to the Digital Designer to create e-Learning elements (advantageous)
  • Aware of the appropriate methods for delivering content via current e-learning technology (advantageous)
