Project Superintendent

Job Responsibilities:

Safety, Health, Environment & Quality

  • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox
  • Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status



  • Ensure customer satisfaction


Business Processes

  • Ensure the Occupational health and standards are maintained
  • Contractor and supplier management related to projects being planned and executed
  • Proper scheduling and control of projects assigned from budget to sign off phases
  • Compilation of the budget and control expenses for each project
  • QC of projects

         ·   Conduct studies for new projects

         ·   Financial evaluation of project feasibility using tools like NPV, IRR, Payback and financial modelling

  • Following of the procurement process on SAP as part of the project management process

         ·  Set up of Project and project related budgets with plant customers

         ·  Technical management of project at hand to ensure legal and engineering standards and requirements are met at all           times

         ·   Compilation of business cases for project motivations and capital applications

         ·   Filing of project data and documentation for archiving and supply to customer with each project

         ·   Management of Change related to each project in conjunction with the project customer

  • Manage subordinates’ performance, in the capacity as Project executor
  • Drive Continuous Improvement Projects and other change management initiatives
  • Manage Implementation of the SAP Project
  • Transfer of project specifications and relevant information after each project
  • The post implementation evaluation of projects


Job requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications And Experience:

  • B.Eng./BSc Mechanical or Electrical (Eng.) Degree, B-Tech or ND
  • Government Certificate of competency (DoL) or Accepted as a Candidate to write and complete within next 2 years
  • 6 years relevant experience, preferably 2 years’ management experience
  • Previous experience on furnaces or smelting environment will be great advantage
  • Professional registration with ECSA will be an advantage
