Senior Credit Risk Specialist - FinChoice

Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

Acquisition responsibilities

  • Actively review and change credit strategy, with specific attention to:
    • Reviewing credit rules and scorecards to ensure pass rates are optimal
    • Review credit results and recommend changes to ensure they are in line with business risk expectations
  • Monitor and implement credit scoring
  • Statistical modeling and SQL data extraction
  • Ensure the compliance of credit legislation are met
  • Review and recommend updates to the risk strategy for both new and existing business
  • Prepare and present a detailed monthly report on the status of the credit portfolio
  • Work closely with the credit operations teams to ensure that the best results are obtained
  • Be responsible for various forecast models that show the various impacts of strategic credit decisions
  • Mentor and train junior team members and ensure that they have a career plan
  • Be able to lead and assist in credit-related analysis

Fraud responsibilities

  • Review fraud reports and recommend changes to ensure the levels of fraud is contained
  • Actively review and change fraud strategy
  • Monitor and implement fraud scoring and other tools
  • Statistical modeling and SQL data extraction
  • Ensure the compliance of credit legislation are met
  • Review and recommend updates to the fraud strategy for both new and existing business
  • Prepare and present a detailed monthly report on the status of the non-paying accounts
  • Work closely with the fraud operations teams to ensure that the best results are obtained
  • Be responsible for monitoring fraud systems and ensure controls are in place
  • Mentor and train junior team members and ensure that they have a career plan
  • Be able to lead and assist in fraud related analysis

Job requirements: 

Qualifications & Accreditations

  • A numerate degree e.g. BCom, B Bus Sci, B Eng, BSc

Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 5 – 8 years' experience in consumer credit risk
  • Previous experience managing / mentoring a team 
  • The ability to integrate and interpret numerical and statistical information
  • Experience in building scorecards will be advantageous
  • SQL skills will be an added advantage 
  • Advanced computer literacy skills with a high proficiency in MS Excel
