Warehouse Analyst


The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for the performance and wellbeing of the operating support team within the distribution Centre in Support of the Homechoice Distribution Centre functional strategy.

Here’s what you can expect to be doing in the role:


  • Data and information gathering 
  • Problem solving skills, making informed decisions and presenting solutions
  • Analyze current system 
  • Testing new system developments on the test environment
  • Training users and ongoing support after implementation
  • Identifying hit and misses in the production environment
  • Assist with project management
  • Competent to perform ABC analysis on stock demands and pallet utilisation with the purpose of creating slotting
  • Manage bulk reservation quantities at less than 10% of all reserved orders.
  • Ensure ageing for non - movement for stock in pick face never exceeds 5 days
  • Optimize space in DC by creating stock cycle models that ensure the appropriate movements of stock from bulk storage to pick face to long span storage as well as internal movements.
  • Manage sku proliferation through regular bin maintenance.
  • Participate in improving cube utilization by ensuring stock storage is appropriate.
  • Conduct analysis into shrinkage to determine root cause and provide insight into resolution.
  • Work closely with the inbound planning function to proactively locate to pick face, all components of orders in DC linked to stock on inbound.     
  • Manage stock ageing in DC to ensure stock is moved to obsolete channels when appropriate.
  • Responsible for reserved to dispatch order cycle timing with a view of hitting and improving company targets through timely stock placement. 
  • Provide space forecasting by business unit that identifies risk with regards to capacity.

System and processes

  • Ensure system set up and maintenance of WMS is appropriate for storage strategies.
  • Manage a team of system clerks within the planning department to ensure sufficient work is created across the entire DC.

Talent Management

  • Ensure that the team has KPA’s in place to effectively manage performance levels which adequately reflects expected performance outcomes and defines appropriate competencies and behaviours of the various roles.
  • Improve overall skill levels within the team by ensuring development plans are in place to address development needs and career aspirations.
  • Manage any succession risks by identifying key personnel and develop appropriate succession plans with defined development initiatives to achieve career aspirations.
  • Promote staff engagement by ensuring adequate measures are in place to address pulse survey results.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate departmental infrastructure is in place to deliver against KPA’s.

Health and Safety

  • Play an active role on the Health and Safety committee as a Section 8 appointee.        
  • Champion and enforce health and safety practices as per the DC safety standards and procedures.

Job requirements: 

A little about who you are

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Degree in logistics, industrial engineering or commerce
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the warehousing industry at specialist or management level is essential
  • Must have previous knowledge on materials handling
  • Strong analytical skills, coupled with the ability of developing clear and up-to-date procedural processes
  • Competent in MS Office with MS Excel advanced skills
  • Previous experience working on WMS would be a great advantage
