Job Overview

Working alongside a businesses MD, the Financial Manager will not only be an exceptional accountant, hands on with company finances but be commercially aware, advising on the best path of growth for the business.

 

The Financial Manager has overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of company strategy and is expected to analyse figures and implement recommendations based on these findings with the most profitable outcomes.

 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

 

  • To manage the full accounts function and accounts department

  • To prepare monthly management reporting

  • Manage & submit all tax returns and payments to SARS

  • To manage the bank account, bank reconciliation and cash control

  • Invoicing

    • Manage & track all invoicing requests & processes

  • Cash Flow

    • Forecast Cash flow (incoming & outgoing)

    • Manage payments (within available funds)

    • Monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends

  • Accounts Payable

    • Manage supplier agreements, information

    • Ensure timeous payments

  • Accounts Receivable

    • Reconcile debtors

    • Ensure statements sent monthly and follow up overdue accounts

  • Banking:

    • Weekly bank reconciliations

    • Maintain creditor profiles

    • Load & release payments (weekly)

  • Maintain Asset Register

  • To set standards of accuracy and quality and to manage within those standards

  • To maintain internal control safeguards and ensure timely audit activities

  • To ensure compliance with all statutory requirements

  • Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance

  • Keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation

  • Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk

  • Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities

  • Liaising with auditors to ensure annual monitoring is carried out

  • Supervising staff

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • B Com Accounting Degree (min 3 years, articles will be preferred)

  • 5 years experience without a degree

  • Management Experience min 5 years

 

Experience & Attributes

  • Knowledge of Pastel Evolution accounting system with jobs

  • Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Understanding of systems and controls

  • Knowledge of SARS E-filing

  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication both verbal and written

  • Strong business acumen

  • Strong Ethics
