Monitoring and Evaluation manager (JHB)

Working in close collaboration with the General Managers and the Regional Management teams, the M&E Specialist mainly manages the outputs and performance of each regional team basedon SBUs strategic objectives and supports all implementation of its M&E activities.

Overview of Role

To support all M&E initiatives for assigned project(s) including monitoring data quality,tracking the progress of activities, and contributing to SBUs capacity building initiatives asnecessary.


Key Result Areas

Lead all M&E activities for SBU

Lead project management components dealing with M&E including overseeingdata collation, Performance Monitoring Plans and results whilst reporting to meetSBUs internal and external reporting requirements

Support the Manco team in creating a framework and procedures for themonitoring and evaluation of project activities

Support the Manco team in defining and implementing the key project performance indicators (KPI) as well as monitoring them throughout the duration of the projects

Draft tools and their revisions as well as data collection procedures under the supervision of the CFO (e.g. logical framework, project performance tracking,indicators, data flow chart, M&E reports)

Keep abreast of developments in 3rd party agreement changes and progress inorder to advise and recommend tools and strategies to increase SBUsperformances and results

Suggest ways to facilitate data collection and the flow of data within SBUs regionalteams

Identify strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection and managementsystems and propose solutions along with the Exco team

Perform regular regional visits to ensure the quality of data collected by regionsand to verify the accuracy of reported data.

Support the Manco team to ensure that donor, partner, and Senior Management data queries are addressed in an accurate and timely manner.

Support and participate in program and project evaluations

Look to automate and simplify reporting wherever possible

Review and analyse weekly reports with the Manco team to identify the causes of potential bottlenecks in project implementation and to enhance quality of reporting. 

  • Manage user requirement and communication
  • Manage IT and other stakeholders, SLAs reviews and renewal
  • Test and Train users on system changes
  • Document processes and procedure on new functionalities
  • Update the Standard Operating Procedures


    Collaborate with the Management team of Shanduka Black Umbrellas as assigned by the

    CFO in reviewing and preparing monthly, quarterly and final narrative and financial donors




    Bachelors Degree in Administration, Information Management, Project Management,

    Engineering, Finance or other relevant academic background (essential).


    1 to 3 years of Monitoring and Evaluation experience (essential)

    Capacity to produce high-quality briefs and reports in English

    Good level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and quantitative


    Ability to design M&E tools, surveys, surveillance systems, and evaluations

    Demonstrated ability to train and build capacity of others

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
