Sales Manager: Business Development and Sales (for Construction Industry and Public Sector)








To oversee the development and management of sales activities (focusing on the construction industry and public sector) as well as to drive the implementation of the sales strategy as it relates to the designated scope of control.


  • Set, interpret, collate and track sales targets for designated business clusters
  • Implement improvements in the sales administration process
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts and reports
  • Develop sales proposals and presentations as required
  • Analyse lost sales and advise business on possible root causes and provide corrective actions and business insight
  • Actively participate in trade and industry conventions, meetings. workshops, exhibitions, etc. to promote the SABS business
  • Identify, understand and build a knowledge base regarding the customer, its products and services, abilities and business strategies
    Develop processes and schedules to deliver quality services
  • Achieve and manage set sales targets as agreed

Customer/ Stakeholder

  •  Review the customer engagement experience in order to monitor trends and develop appropriate strategies and action plans for customer engagement
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders for lead identification
  • Build and actively manage relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve brand engagements and deliver targeted strategies focused on specific industries / sectors


  •  Develop strategies to identify and explore potential business opportunities and new lead generation
  • Monitor sales metrics per cluster and suggest improvements as needed
  • Plan, develop and manage sales strategies to achieve cluster targets
  • Coordinate execution of sales action plans
  • Develop plans to ensure annual revenue growth of existing customers and new markets.
  • Conduct promotional visits to potential and existing clients.
  • Initiate feasibility studies and keep abreast of current and potential changes in the market
  • Monitor market and competitor environments for analysis, business opportunities and trend research 
  • Control and manage costs and expenditure

Competent and empowered employees

  • Provide coaching to business (i.e. managers, auditors, etc.) to improve penetration levels and sales techniques
  • Ensure that all employees within scope of control are properly trained and developed including mentorship and coaching of employees
  • Manage performance of all direct reports as is relevant for the Business Unit
