Ensure all workshop practices that are technical and admin/technical are correctly and accurately performed, measured, supported and controlled 

Manage Technical Skills ability and outcome:

  • Manage and support technicians technically
  • Provide on-the-job training and development
  • Manage and control timing of repairs
  • Identify and make available all necessary technical information to improve quality and effectiveness of repair
  • Identify weaknesses and address accordingly
  • Perform random technician work discipline checks
  • Ability to test and diagnose/confirm client complaints

Auditing and Risk Management:

  • Basic audit checks on job cards to verify standards of technician reporting, clocking and scope of work conducted
  • Checking for the attachment of all technical supporting documents
  • Execution of the 4-eye principal to justify repairs and additional repairs
  • Signing of for the fitment and/or ordering of high value parts
  • Auditing diagnostic reports attached to specific repairs
  • Signing of all job cards after completion of repairs before handing to costing
  • Assist with claim rejections, defect codes and resubmissions if technical knowledge or argument is needed
  • Inspection of all high value parts before the allocation to the workshop
  • Report and deal with workshop damages due to breakages and poor workmanship
  • Printing of repair instructions for technicians especially for uncommon jobs to prevent damages and losses

Work environment and equipment Maintenance:

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety disciplines
  • Check and control quality and availability of technician hand tools
  • Maintain and ensure all special tools and workshop tools are available and in good working condition
  • Ensure the continuous updating of all software related equipment
  • Manage and control the procurement of all consumables
  • Adherence and compliance with dealer standards report
  • Management of the service and calibration of all tools and equipment

Manage business and performance aspects:

  • Manage technicians efficiency and productivity and track performance on a daily basis
  • Track performance against budgeted targets
  • Manage above average achievement of hours per job card
  • Loading of PUMA cases to support repairs and authorisation of repairs
  • Upsell and promote additional sales within the stipulated boundaries
  • Assist with technician appraisals
  • Update and manage carryovers with reports
  • List, control and manage comebacks
  • Check and manage the arrival of all ordered parts on a daily basis
  • Prepare for daily workload and planning prior to work day to ensure availability of resources ( part availability, anticipated delays, lift requirements)
  • Identify opportunities to increase profits and limit losses both in service and parts

Attend weekly/daily service meetings:

  • Discuss individual performance against target
  • Discuss BM results and potential action plans
  • Ensure effective understanding of latest bulletins and procedures
  • Discuss potential marketing initiatives
  • Discuss WIP and actions required
  • Discuss and engage in growth opportunities

General Management and decision making:

  • Opening and closing of workshop
  • Management of wastes services and documentation of services provided
  • Assist in preparation and administering of  weekend duty roster
  • Assist sales department with technical queries
  • Assist customer and management in resolving complaints
  • Management of allocated jobs and control thereof
  • Documentation of pictures and videos to support claims and the storage thereof
